Ganksta NIP

Ganksta NIP has been played on NTS over 10 times, featured on 9 episodes and was first played on 1 September 2017.

Rowdy Lewayne Williams, better known by his stage name Ganksta NIP (sometimes Ganxsta NIP), is a rapper from South Park, Houston, Texas, and a key member of the rap group South Park Coalition (SPC). He co-founded SPC in 1987 alongside rapper K-Rino. Ganksta NIP is considered one of the pioneers of the horrorcore genre, known for its violent and dark lyrical themes.

His debut album, South Park Psycho, was released in 1992 and played a significant role in boosting the popularity of South Park Coalition due to worldwide distribution through the legendary rap label Rap-a-Lot Records. The album stood out for its hardcore gangsta rap mixed with horror elements, which became the defining style of the horrorcore genre. It reached No. 63 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, despite not featuring any promotional singles. In the Houston area, the album sold nearly 100,000 copies, leading him to sign a deal with Priority Records.

His second solo album "Psychic Thoughts" did even better, reaching #151 on the Billboard chart and #30 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. It also reached #5 on the Top Heatseekers chart, a ranking for emerging artists gaining popularity.

In addition to being an artist, Ganksta is also a songwriter. Specifically, he co-wrote the hit song "Chuckie" by the Geto Boys.

Throughout his career, he has also been an active member of the "religion" Nation of Islam, which is reflected in his name - NIP, which stands for "Nation of Islam is Powerful".

Prior to his solo career, he was a member of The Forever Def Crew, where he performed with rapper Klondike Kat. Ganksta NIP, along with another South Park legend K-Rock Def, shaped and dominated the style of horrorcore that NIP went on to develop into its current form.

Overall, Ganksta NIP is considered one of the pioneers of horrorcore rap, whose distinctive style has left a lasting mark on the hip hop scene not only in Texas, but around the world.
