Bangalore

Bangalore

Bangalore has been played on NTS in shows including SKYAPNEA, featured first on 9 April 2018. Songs played include The Storm.

Bangalore took off when Phil Kaplan (guitar, Men & Volts, Fabulous Roys, Funeral Barkers) and Sven Larson (bass, Toni Lynn Washington, Big Jack Johnson, The Gulf) decided that their ad-hoc drumming workshop needed a third person to complete their Pyramid-That-Supports-the-Eye, to achieve their vision of a new Pluto-meets-Mississippi/Ganges/Niger Delta rhythms-and-blues dance and romance music. Some pieces are through-composed, some are largely improvised over a skeleton vamp/groove, some endeavor to present overtly the influences that animate the band, specifically Hindustani raga, West African (Ewe) drumming, James Brown, Television, Rolling Stones, Little Walter, Miles Davis, French chanson, rush-hour traffic jams and fishing in mid-western Canada. Bangalore wants to provide the soundtracks to the movies in your head and and get on up!
