Woven Entity

Woven Entity

Woven Entity has been played on NTS shows including Patrick Forge, with Earth/Crisis first played on 6 January 2015.

Woven Entity began life in 2010 after percussionist, DJ and multi-instrumentalist Lascelle Gordon (Brand New Heavies, Beth Orton, Campag Velocet, etc) crossed paths with percussionist Patrick Dawes (Herbaliser, Groove Armada, Patrick & Eugene) and drummer Paul May (Fourth Page, Clang Sayne, Duke Garwood etc etc) and suggested the three try playing together. Soon the trio were organically evolving a freewheeling improvised music that wasn't afraid to groove a bit. With assistance from a regular pool of guests such as Led Bib's Chris Williams, Snorkel keyboardist Ben Cowen, bassist Peter Marsh, trumpeter Andy Knight and free improv saxophonist Alan Wilkinson, they began playing the usual leftfield London hotspots on a semi-regular basis. Audiences were enthusiastic, warming to the band's unpredictable and unforced stew of spiritual afro jazz, dubby post punk, lo-fi electronics and eccentric ethnological forgeries. Marsh joined the core unit in 2012, and the band's self titled debut album (featuring contributions from Alan Wilkinson, Ben Cowen and alto saxophonist/flautist Julie Kjær) was released on the Babel Label in December 2014.
