Ancien Régime

Ancien Régime

Ancien Régime has been played on NTS shows including The Reign Set , with Brief Encounter first played on 20 March 2016.

Ancien Régime formed in 2003, as a project conceived by Valerio Bulla (vocals and bass) and Gino Maglio (drums). The two young boys started playing together in the attempt to create an indie-rock influenced power trio. In the course of some years, several guitarists came and went, but none was satisfying. In 2007 Angelo Stoikidis (guitar) was successfully auditioned and the band eventually began to approach its real identity. Ancien Régime experienced a decisive change in sound, moving closer to the spirit of the 80s “new wave”. Angelo proved himself to be the perfect songwriting partner for Valerio, making everything fall into place. To get the ultimate shape of sound, in 2008 Domenico Migliaccio (drums), drummer of well-known roman bands like Bedtime for Charlie and Sadside Project, replaced Gino Maglio, who, from then on, would handle the synth. The purchase of the legendary Roland Juno 106 synth, dated 1984, allowed the band to reach the long sought-after 80s’ flavoured sound, coupled with a quite genuine “modern-indie” style of composition. That’s the way the debut album “Act” was imagined, a gloomy basic tone and catchy beats, combined with hardly-forgettable epic melodies.
