YUKIE NAGAI was born in Tokyo and started playing the piano at the age of six. Her academic piano studies took place in her home city during the years 1964-73. She completed her studies with Hans Leygraf at the Salzburg Mozarteum and with Wilhelm Kempff at his Beethoven courses at positano. An important step in her artistic career was winning a prize at the Geneva International Piano Competition in 1977 together with a special prize for the best Debussy interpretation. Since then she has received invitations to give piano recitals and orchestral concerts, as well as broadcasts and television recordings, in Switzerland, Belgium, Germany, France, Japan, Sweden, Austria, England and Denmark. Yukie Nagai lives as a freelance artist in Munich.
