Chalachew Ashenafi, the legendary Gondar azmari (1966-2012), was an Ethiopian musician, singer and songwriter. Amongst western rock fans he is, perhaps, best known for touring with Amsterdam's legendary The Ex, who remember him as a "traditional player, but also forward, funny and stubborn." The Ex also released Ashenafi's final recordings, in 2013.
