Rather than seeking cold comfort within the confines of genre, CULT CARGO finds thread in idiosyncrasy and sensibility, locating music new and old from around the world. Curated by Alexis Georgopoulos aka Arp, the series aims to present thoughtful, adventurous selections from a cast of discerning guest contributors skilled at digging beneath the obvious surfaces and tropes to unearth vibrant, inventive sounds from lesser known corners. The opening episode focuses on Japanese music from the 70s/80s (Balearic, 4th World, Ambient, Psychedelic Folk, Yacht Rock, Art Rock ) — going far deeper than "City Pop" and the usual Hosono/Sakamoto/YMO axis … Selected and mixed by major head FRANK LYON (partly responsible for influential SET THE TONE mix series, member of now defunct DEEP TROUBLE (NYC DJ crew)
