Footnotes: Finding Albion by Zakia Sewell

Zakia Sewell selects music from the world of her new book, Finding Albion: Myth, Folklore and the Quest for a Hidden Britain, weaving together seasonal ritual, folk tradition and sound system culture, with excerpts from the book read on air. This round of NTS Book Club ran from March to May 2026, celebrating the release of Zakia’s debut book and marking her return to NTS as a former resident and longtime friend of the station.

Zakia Sewell is a writer, DJ and broadcaster based in London. She previously hosted the flagship breakfast show on NTS and now presents Dream Time on BBC Radio 6 Music. Over the past decade she has produced and presented radio documentaries and podcasts for BBC Radio 3 and 4, Tate and Camden Arts Centre. Finding Albion (Hodder Press, 2026) grew out of her acclaimed Radio 4 series My Albion, and explores myth, folklore and the possibility of a more inclusive national story.
