Ian Brennan & Ustad Saami: Prayers for Peace

77-year-old Ustad Saami from Pakistan is the last living vocal master of the 49-note, microtonal Surti system. Ian Brennan is his Grammy-winning producer (Tinariwen, Zomba Prison Project, Ramblin’ Jack Elliott) from California. Featured here are influences on Saami’s three-volume, late-in-life debut and "Prayers for Peace" from around the world by artists who celebrate the notes between the notes.
