Saturday Night on Friday Night w/ CARRTOONS

Ben Carr aka CARRTOONS, whose new album Saturday Night is out today on Wichita Recordings, is a multi-instrumentalist and producer from New York who brings the rich tones of the electric bass to the forefront. Since the pandemic CARRTOONS has performed or recorded with Roy Ayers, Terrace Martin, Alex Isley, George Clinton, Marc Rebillet, Kiefer, Yussef Dayes, and Mac Ayres to name a few. Descending from a family with its own rich musical history, CARRTOONS received his degree in Jazz Performance at SUNY Purchase Conservatory. After a stint with Mad Satta, opening for acts such as Thundercat, Nick Hakim, and Gabriel Garzon Montano, he started working regularly in the New York music scene. His emphasis on hard-hitting baselines has since led to recent appearances on NPR Tiny Desk (at home), and commercial placements with Supreme, Nike, HBO MAX, and Peacock.
