IN FOCUS: SONIC YOUTH

Birthed in the playful amateur experimentalism of New York's 1970s no wave scene, Sonic Youth are potentially the definitive American rock band of the post-punk era. From the creative blossoming of EVOL, to their mammoth art rock masterpiece of "Day Dream Nation" to the surprising commercial victory of "Goo", the band continuously bucked convention, and remained in flux creatively up until their unofficial ceasing in 2011.

Electronica Spoken Word New Wave

In this episode, we visit avant-garde performer David Hoyle. David's work spans music, film, television and theatre. He has performed across clubs and venues in the UK and internationally since the early 1990s, serving his devoted audiences with lacerating comedy, 'live art' and a particular brand of social commentary. New Meridian travels between a 'dressing room chin-wag' and his stage show, Ten Commandments, which recently premiered at The Soho Theatre in London.
