Country music rubs many people the wrong way like it did me for so many years until I moved away from Texas and later returned home to visit and discovered the richness, beauty, and genius of it all in the record bins of many thrift shops. “Lonely Heart Saloon,” gets at the core of what classic country music was all about; the people, love, loss, and heartache. They are the greatest of storytellers and do it and with an exaggerated pathos and poetic imagination as big as the state of Texas or one of their country lady’s hair-dos. Lonely Heart Saloon is all vinyl, complete with pops and crackles.
