Meristem Excision
The structure of Meristem Excision is a resonant metaphor from plant biology for heartbreaks. The meristem is a type of tissue consisting of undifferentiated cells that can grow into every part of an organism, even in its own independent whole, if set in the right circumstances. Within the painful process of excising from a system of care and loved ones, a possibility for growth is revealed while acknowledging melancholia emerging from beautiful, joyful, but faded memories that transform into soothing and hopeful sounds for something new to grow from it.
