Focus on Joe Hisaishi
Joe Hisaishi (born Mamoru Fujisawa), is possibly most famous for his soundtrack work & creative relationship with animator, director & Studio Ghibli co-founder Hayao Miyazaki, but his diverse & un-categorisable solo ventures throughout the 80s and 90s are perhaps just as beguiling. Reaching his artistic stride when pop music Japan was at its most energetic and creative in a generation, Hisaishi's projects referenced jazz & city pop, organic environmental music, and the space age computer music of Yellow Magic Orchestra.
This In Focus is a 60 minute venture through the world of Joe Hisaishi, collated by Timetable's Holodec.
