In Focus: Vashti Bunyan

With Vashti Bunyan

"Discovered" in the mid-1960s, singer-songwriter Vashti Bunyan released music via the label Decca, which was commercially unsuccessful and mostly unheard in its own time – at the end of the 1960s Bunyan escaped the London music apparatus in a horse and cart with her dog and partner, their destination being the Isle of Skye, where their musician friend Donovan was planning to create an artist's "colony".

Bunyan arrived on the Isle of Skye in 1970, and there she wrote the songs that would become the album "Just Another Diamond Day" - again, this album was mostly unheard at the time, and Vashti left music behind.

Over the decades the album became rightfully recognised as a classic – otherworldly, delicate, and magnetic. A resurgence in her popularity in the 21st Century lead to her return to the industry, writing new music, and touring globally for the first time.
