Blogspot Hauntings and Digital Apparitions w/ Jean Christo
There was a period that I like to call the Blogspot Era (mid 00s to early 10s) when artists would share ZIP files and sell their tapes through music blogs. This specific movement had a very distinct sound to it. It was this blend of ambient, new age, drone, exotica, lounge, gamelan, progressive electronic and hypnagogic pop coated with a very DIY production and otherworldly atmospheres that sounded like field recordings from an extraterrestrial ancient civilization. From this movement emerged artists like James Ferraro, Yves Tumor, OPN and Emeralds.
