Laurens Otto - myrrh
"myrrh” speaks of the specific feeling of a debilitating desire. This feeling comes close to grief – thick and numbing as a fever dream, a sickness. Myrrh is an ancient painkiller and an incense for embalming the dead. With its oddly arcane spelling, the word remained similar across all Semitic and Indo-European languages.
