A journey through the quietly transcendent world of Irena & Vojtěch Havlovi, the Czech duo whose intimate music emerged in the years after the Velvet Revolution. As Czechoslovakia entered a new cultural era in the 1990s, the married couple developed a deeply personal musical language shaped by Baroque instrumentation, sparse arrangements and a profound attentiveness to space and silence. Performing in churches, monasteries and intimate underground venues, they drew from medieval sacred music, folk traditions and spiritual minimalism, making work that felt less like performance than private communion.
At the heart of the Havlovis’ music was their relationship itself: decades of listening, trust and devotion distilled into sound. This programme traces that lifelong dialogue through their catalogue, exploring how love and shared spiritual curiosity created some of the most fragile, transportive music of the last few decades.
