Rough Version w/ Gary Simmons

American artist Gary Simmons based in LA who studied under Michael Asher and Charles Gaines before paving his own way with paintings and sculpture that unpick the politics of race, class and social stereotype. He has exhibited everywhere from Studio Museum to MCA Chicago. He also likes a chalkboard. The archive section of this month's show looks at illustrator Tony Viramontez, best known from Janet Jackson's Control.
