LABOUR w/ Mbaye Dieye Faye

This month’s show features the great living Senegalese percussionist, vocalist and bandleader, Mbaye Dieye Faye with his band Sing Sing Rhythms. Hailing from a griot family in the Medina neighbourhood of Dakar, Faye is best known as a long-time percussionist for Youssou Ndour, but also for his own shows and records, which is mbalax similar to the style of Pape Ndiaye Guewel and others of the 90s and early 2000s. This show focuses on three solo records: Oupoukay (1995), Songa Ma (2002) and the live Tink's Daye Bondé Biir Thiossane (1996), and notably features previous LABOUR special focus Ndongo Lo, singing together with Mbaye Dieye Faye on the live track, Forcé.
